You're a valuable bird.  People know it the moment you walk into a room.  This dress pays homage to that by emblazoning you all over with other valuable birds.  In fact, it shows the "Portraits of All Known Valuable Breeds of Fowls" as of 1868, when the color chromolithograph that inspired this dress was created.  

It was apparently determined that there were exactly 30 valuable breeds of fowls at that time.  They are numbered, with roosters and hens being numbered separately, for a total of 52 birds shown.   As many as possible are included in full glory on the dress (with numbers included), but some may be cut off at the edges.  That does not mean we find them any less valuable.  In fact, we want to do another dress as of 2017, because we believe there are so many more breeds of value that deserve to have their portraits done and then placed on a frock.  That one might have to be a floor-length gown. 

But we adore the artwork in this 1868 version.  Furthermore, when you purchase this wearable conversation piece, you will receive an email copy of the numbered breed key, that you can print out and snip down to purse size.  That way, when someone asks you, "What breed, pray tell, is this one here with the gorgeous plumage?" ...you can pull out your key and match the number on the dress to the numbered breed in the key.
